In remembrance of the tragedy of the Holocaust during World War II, we invite you to join us for a commemoration concert entitled We Remember as part of the United Nations’ International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The concert will be presented at 7:00 PM MSK onWednesday, January 27, 2021. This date coincides with the 76th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau by Soviet troops.

The concert will feature Grammy award-winning violinist Johnny Gandelsman, the string quartet Brooklyn Rider, credited by National Public Radio with “recreating the 300-year-old form of string quartet as a vital and creative 21st-century ensemble,” and the Guy Mendilow Ensemble, hailed as an “international tour de force” by The Morning Call. Also featured will be the Moscow Male Jewish Capella Choir, which has performed throughout Russia, including performances at all three halls of the Moscow Conservatory, and in more than thirteen countries across the globe.

Following the concert, a live, moderated discussion will be held featuring Guy Mendilow, band leader of the Guy Mendilow Ensemble, and Nicholas Cords, violist for Brooklyn Rider. The conversation will be hosted by artist, writer and teacher Anne Gottlieb, who was a Resident Scholar in performance and collaborative process at the Women’s Studies Research Center at Brandeis University, and serves as a faculty member at Michael Chekhov Europe.

The concert and discussion are presented by the United States Embassy Moscow, the Forum for Cultural Engagement, the American Center in Moscow, and  Broadband Collaborative.
